Rykn is a hybrid cafe and hotel lobby designed as a restorative urban retreat. The space serves as a quiet architectural escape, providing a minimalist backdrop for a Kyoto-inspired hospitality program.
A rigorous palette of earthy plaster and tatami seating defines the interior volumes. The design deliberately manipulates scale at the threshold, utilizing oversized boulders to ground the space and function as the primary reception desk.
Indoor trees anchor the seating areas, creating an integrated interior landscape that encourages relaxation. This spatial intention is paired with a curated menu of ceremonial tea, coffee, and natural wine to complete the immersive experience.
