Located in New York’s Lower East Side, Tera is a Korean-inspired hospitality space designed to blend natural materiality with contemporary detailing. By contrasting light and dark, as well as soft and rigid textures, the environment fosters mindful gathering and offers a deliberate respite from the active urban streetscape.

The long, narrow footprint of the site dictates a linear spatial sequence. A monolithic stone bar counter is softened by draped Sambe fabric overhead, which visually lowers the ceiling height to create a highly intimate atmosphere.

Anchoring the end of the spatial sequence is a private event space veiled in translucent Sambe fabric and grounded by traditional tatami flooring. Designed to function dualistically as a dedicated listening room, all acoustic equipment is entirely concealed behind the fabric to maintain a pure, uniformly glowing architectural volume.
